Poster Competition - Call for Entries

The Embassy of Japan in Ireland and the Japanese Language Teachers of Ireland (JLTI) are pleased to announce a Poster Competition to mark the 10th Japanese Speech Contest in Ireland, scheduled to take place in March 2012.

Application guidelines:
• Theme: free (Previously published material will not be accepted)
• Type of design: free (drawing, illustration, painting, etc.)
• Size: A4
• Format for submissions: paper or digital, with your name and contact number (E-mail address/postal address)
• Method of application:
 By post: Poster Competition Committee, Embassy of Japan, Nutley Building, Merrion Centre, Nutley Lane, Dublin 4
 By E-mail: ( iebenron@gmail.com)
• Deadline: Tuesday, November 15th, 2011
• Announcement of winner: Monday, November 21st, 2011
• Prize: MUJI voucher
• The winning design will be used as the official poster of the 10th Japanese Speech Contest in Ireland, and the top 10 designs will be displayed at the Speech Contest venue.
• Organised by: the Embassy of Japan in Ireland and the JLTI

Heya! I've just been reading a Dublin magazine called "Totally Dublin" and there's a piece in it about the 2011 Nom-Con!
It's titled "Animeniacs: The Geeks Shall Inherit The Earth", and some ppl are mentioned in it by name, or by cosplay lol :XD:

The article starts off by talking about the NomCon vs Eirtakon wars from 4chan though (which i have never heard about until now!! :noes:)
It's probably not the articles intention, but personally i seem to be finding a lot of back-handed type of compliments sprinkled throughout the piece about the cons and fans =/
But it's still interesting to read about the cons from an outsiders point of view :meow:
And on the plus side, it does mention repeatedly that we're an open-minded, friendly bunch (especially in Ireland)! :love:

Eirtakon and ourselves are definatly not at war :3
4chan is a ground to play and make comments anonymously
so I don't pay it any mind.

We saw the article all right XP They didnt quite get
their statements correct but they apologized^^

There are always those who have their own bits of drama
and seem set on letting it overflow onto the convention
fans. A wise person will seek both sides of the story
or roll their eyes at trouble makers, pending on the subject.

But I'm glad you let us know <3 I hope you had fun Nom-Con
and Eirtakon <3

Yeah just ignore that article =_= It's full of misquotations and they were trying to geode people into saying what they wanted. I didn't even know about it until it was published. The nom vs Eirta wars thing was mostly a bunch of 4chan trolls in my opinion but hoping it never happens again. I help found Eirtakon back in 2005 and worked on it for 4 years and I'm friends with many of their committee so yeah it's utterly ridiculous. Aside from a few drama llama's which every country has I think we have a pretty good anime scene in Ireland. :) Hoping to do a few collaborations with Eirtakon in the future so look forward to it :)
